The “AIGNITE-25: Empowering Bangladesh’s Youth in Artificial Intelligence” discussion session was held at Uttara University, bringing together renowned professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, and innovators to inspire students to harness the potential of artificial intelligence. The event took place on Thursday, August 14, in the university’s multipurpose hall.

The program was jointly organized by Youth Upskill Network (UNet), Youth Action for Bangladesh, Nutrition for Change, and Farhana’s Brainstation.

Highlighting the importance of integrating technology with human skills, the event’s chief guest, Professor Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, stated: “The human brain is far more valuable and powerful than AI. AI can make our work easier, but we must ensure that technology does not take over our intelligence.”

Students participated in an interactive AI quiz competition, with winners receiving awards, making the learning experience engaging and rewarding. One of the main highlights was the panel discussion titled “AIGNITE-25: Empowering Bangladesh’s Youth in Artificial Intelligence.”

Syed Almas Kabir, Managing Director of Ayal Corp Ltd., former President of BASIS, Advisor and former Director of FBCCI, and Chairman of Bangladesh ICT & Innovation Network Trust, emphasized skill development: “To prove your worth in the workplace, you must acquire skills. AI is helping us learn a lot in a short time.”

Industry experts also shared their insights. Subaha Afrin, Vice President and Head of Trade Product at Citibank N.A. Bangladesh, discussed her experience in using technology to solve business challenges. Rezwan Arefin, Lead IoT Product Manager at Grameenphone, highlighted AI-driven innovations in the telecom sector. Kazi Tafsirul Islam, Senior Lecturer at North South University, explained the practical applications of AI for students and entrepreneurs.

Other notable attendees included Mohammad Aminur Rahman, Lecturer at the University of Scholars; Minhaj-us-Saleheen Fahmi, Co-Founder and Chairman of Battery Low Interactive Ltd.; and writer and tech evangelist Muhammad Altamish Nabil. They shared valuable perspectives on leadership, innovation, and the transformative potential of AI with students.
