Following a series of impressive achievements at the age-group level, Bangladesh's national women's football team has now reached a historic milestone by qualifying for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first time. With this breakthrough, the team now stands at the threshold of a potential appearance in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Bangladesh has also made a remarkable leap of 24 places in the global rankings.

In recognition of this rapid progress, FIFA has shared a series of six special photo cards on its official Facebook page, celebrating the success, growth, and future promise of Bangladesh's women’s football.

The post opens with the phrase: “Bangladesh close to the 100,” and the first card features a graph showcasing the team’s consistent rise in performance. Bangladesh now holds the 104th position in the global women's rankings—its highest ever. The team’s rank was 142nd in August 2023, making their 38-place jump over the past year the most significant in women’s football rankings globally.

Another card highlights Bangladesh’s historic unbeaten run in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers, where the team—led by stars like Sabina and Krishna—secured their first-ever victories in Asian Cup qualifying history. If the team finishes among the top six in the final round, it will unlock a gateway to the Women’s World Cup—a dream long nurtured in Bangladesh.

The recognition doesn’t stop at on-field success. A separate card outlines the strategic roadmap behind the progress: “Empower Her: 2024–2027,” Bangladesh’s first comprehensive development strategy for women’s football. It also credits FIFA’s development programs for playing a key role in accelerating the transformation.

Another card recalls Bangladesh’s back-to-back SAFF Women’s Championship titles, calling it a turning point that not only boosted the team’s confidence but also improved their preparation for higher-level tournaments. Organized with support from the FIFA Forward Programme, the tournament has been a vital contributor to the growth of women’s football in the region.

The final card features a quote from Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal: “FIFA’s focus on women’s football has increased awareness in Bangladesh. The growing number of spectators and fans is playing a vital role in taking our women’s football forward.”

FIFA’s global recognition has added new inspiration for the women footballers of Bangladesh. The photo cards have already sparked widespread appreciation and well-wishes across social media. For the red and green warriors, the dream of waving the national flag on the World Cup stage now feels closer than ever.
