Bangladesh Bags Bronze at Beijing AI Olympiad
Bangladesh has earned two bronze medals and one honorable mention at the second edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), held in Beijing, China.
The bronze medalists from Bangladesh in the IOAI 2025 are Md. Riasat Islam from Rajuk Uttara Model College and Arefin Anwar from St. Joseph Higher Secondary School. In addition to their achievement, Misbah Uddin Inan from Notre Dame College received an honorable mention for his performance.
Another Bangladeshi participant, Abrar Shahid, also from Notre Dame College, represented the country in the competition.
The results were announced on Friday, August 8, at noon Bangladesh time. Bangladesh team leader and Director of Dhaka University’s Institute of Information Technology, Professor Dr. B M Mainul Islam, said, “Bangladesh did not win any medals in this version of the international AI olympiad last year. This year’s bronze wins mark the beginning of our medal journey. We hope this progress by our students continues.”
More than 50 countries participated in the event, which began on August 2 and is scheduled to conclude on August 9.
