Shawki’s Suspense Series 'Gulmohar' Set to Stream on Chorki
Chorki’s verified Facebook page unveiled the official poster of its upcoming original series Gulmohar on the night of May 5, announcing that the series will premiere on May 15. The show marks the much-anticipated return of acclaimed director Syed Ahmed Shawki with his first Chorki Original and third web series overall.
After a temporary hiatus from the OTT scene, Shawki is set to reappear on screen after nearly three years. Known for his gripping storytelling, the director’s new venture falls under the mystery-drama genre, and the poster’s cryptic caption—“ক্ষমতার লোভে কেটে গেছে সম্পর্কের সুর!” (“The harmony of relationships, torn apart by the greed for power”)—hints at a layered and intense narrative.
According to early insights, Gulmohar intricately explores themes such as power, greed, trust and betrayal, family legacies, and karmic consequences—all woven together through compelling performances. How Shawki’s directorial finesse will bring these elements to life remains to be seen.
The series also marks a notable debut: acclaimed Indian actor Saswata Chatterjee makes his first appearance in a Bangladeshi production through Gulmohar, offering local audiences a fresh cross-border collaboration.
Speaking about the show, Shawki has previously stated, “This is a story about a family.” That leaves viewers wondering—will the mystery and drama unfold entirely within the intricate bonds of this family?
Another cast member, Intekhab Dinar, commented: “‘Gulmohar’ is a story of trust, mistrust, and conspiracies that brew within a family. Shawki has presented it in such a way that one must call him a magician.”
Actor Mostafizur Noor Imran added: “‘Gulmohar’ is a tale of legacy and karma, where consequences are inevitable.”
As anticipation builds, Gulmohar promises to be a compelling addition to Bangladesh’s growing slate of original OTT content.
