Yunus Seeks Qatar Charity’s Help to Bring Tech Training to Bangladesh’s Madrasah Students

Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has appealed to Qatar Charity to launch large‑scale technology‑education programmes for the country’s millions of madrasah students, emphasising skills such as computer programming and artificial intelligence.

During a sideline meeting at the Earthna Summit on Tuesday, Yunus praised the organisation’s existing work in Bangladesh—including orphan sponsorship and LPG distribution for Rohingya refugees—and urged it to embed digital curricula directly in religious schools.

“Any support for madrasah students is welcome,” Yunus told Qatar Charity’s acting chief executive, Nawaf Abdullah Al Hammadi. “These children learn quickly; they will master such skills rapidly.”

Al Hammadi noted that the NGO already funds life‑skills and livelihood projects in several madrasahs and promised to study the proposal seriously.

The leaders also discussed sustaining humanitarian aid in Cox’s Bazar camps, with Yunus calling for continued LPG supplies and expanded health and education services. He highlighted the need for targeted assistance to girls, particularly those in madrasahs, and encouraged Qatar Charity to partner with Bangladeshi micro‑finance institutions to amplify poverty‑alleviation efforts.
