Confirming the publication of the draft, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder, stated on Saturday (February 15) that Advisor Nahid Islam has invited feedback from Bangladeshi experts, both at home and abroad, to refine the document. “The draft will be further enriched with expert opinions,” he added.

Meanwhile, Policy Advisor Faiz Ahmad Tayyab elaborated on the contents of the draft, stating, “The ICT roadmap draft incorporates JICA’s implementation strategy, the European eGA Team’s e-Governance Inception Report Direction, and UNESCO’s AI Readiness Assessment Methodology (AI RAM) Summary. Additionally, the ten recommendations provided by the Task Force on Digital Economy will also be accommodated.” He further reiterated that Advisor Nahid Islam has sought feedback from Bangladeshi experts worldwide to make the draft more mature and comprehensive.

The 171-page draft outlines ten key initiatives for the period 2025-2030, which include: establishing an interoperable digital infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity and data sovereignty, restructuring ICT service mechanisms, expanding digital services for citizens and businesses, and fostering an innovation ecosystem to strengthen the digital economy.

Moreover, the strategy aims to train and develop 7 to 8 million IT-skilled professionals by 2030, produce 50,000 cybersecurity experts, and enhance skill development to help the garment industry adapt to AI and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
