Google Launches Gemini App for Windows PCs
Following the success of its Mac version, Google has now launched a dedicated “Gemini” app for Windows 10 and 11 users. There is no longer any need to keep a browser tab open; users can now access Google’s latest artificial intelligence (AI) features directly from the Gemini desktop app on their PCs.
Easy Access and Convenient Features
Like on Mac systems, users can instantly launch the Gemini window over any other window on Windows by pressing the keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space). This makes it easier to quickly review documents, generate summaries or seek presentation ideas while working on other tasks. However, as generative AI responses may sometimes contain inaccuracies, users are advised to verify the information before relying on it.
Integration with Google Services and AI Features
The Windows app has been integrated with Google’s broader AI ecosystem. Users can hand over complex, multi-step tasks to the agentic assistant “Gemini Spark” if they wish. With Gmail and Google Drive integration, information from emails and documents can also be processed directly.
For creative work, the app also offers the ability to generate custom images using “Nano Banana” and create high-quality videos with “Gemini Omni.”
Google has assured users that the app is lightweight and runs smoothly in the background without slowing down PC performance. The app is currently available for download worldwide, and the company plans to add more system-level features to the Windows version in the future.
