Hackathon Highlights: DU Prometheus Prevails at InnovateX 2025
Aiming to make technology-focused practice and innovation more dynamic nationwide, the national-level innovation and technology competition ‘InnovateX Hackathon 2025’ was successfully held at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). The University of Dhaka team ‘DU Prometheus’ emerged as the champion.
The first runners-up were ‘UIU Orbit’ of United International University, and the second runners-up were ‘GitGuard’ from Independent University, Bangladesh.
Organized by the BUBT IT Club in association with Programming Hero, the competition took place on Friday, 21 November. It brought together young tech enthusiasts, innovators, and future software engineers onto one major platform.
This year, more than 173 teams from over 64 universities across the country participated—one of the largest gatherings of participants in any single hackathon in recent times.
The participants engaged in a 12-hour on-site coding challenge, developing technology-driven solutions to various real-world problems. The event was highly competitive, with innovation, software development skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork serving as the primary evaluation criteria.
Since all the projects presented in the competition were based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students had the opportunity to identify national and international challenges and present effective tech-driven solutions.
Young participants showcased impressive innovations addressing issues such as climate change, healthcare system improvement, technology in education, women empowerment, and cybersecurity.
After a rigorous evaluation process, the top three teams were announced winners and received a total prize of Tk 50,000.

The judges stated that the solutions proposed by the participating teams demonstrated strong technical skills, feasibility, and remarkable creativity.
The chief guest at the event was Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Chairman of the CSE Department at the University of Dhaka.
Special guest Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahman, Dean of the BUBT Research School, also attended.
In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of creating national-level opportunities like this for young learners.
They noted that such innovative competitions play a vital role in advancing Bangladesh’s technology sector. They also encouraged students to focus on research, acquire new skills, and strive for international standards.
Teachers and officials from various departments of BUBT were present at the event, offering guidance and encouragement to the participating teams.
According to the organizing committee, competitions like these boost students’ confidence, enhance understanding of real-world applications of technology, and help prepare them for their professional careers.
Participants from different parts of the country stated that ‘InnovateX Hackathon 2025’ was a significant experience that allowed them to learn new things, showcase their abilities, and test their skills.
They believe such competitions will further accelerate technology-driven innovation in Bangladesh.
InnovateX Hackathon 2025 has proven that through technology and innovation, the young generation will lead Bangladesh toward a smart, technically advanced, and prosperous future.
