Disney Dispute Draws Credits
YouTube TV is issuing a 20-dollar credit to its subscribers after Disney-owned networks remained unavailable on the platform for more than a week, according to a report by TechCrunch.
Variety first reported the development, and a YouTube spokesperson later confirmed it to TechCrunch. The company stated that credit notifications are currently being sent to affected subscribers. Customers will be able to apply the credit toward their upcoming billing cycle by following the instructions provided via email.
Since October 31, viewers have been unable to access Disney channels on YouTube TV, including ESPN, ABC, and other associated networks. YouTube noted that the channels could return within hours if both sides are able to reach a new agreement.
The disagreement centers around pricing. YouTube alleges that Disney is demanding an unreasonably high rate, while Disney contends that YouTube is undervaluing its channels.
A similar dispute occurred in 2022, during which YouTube TV also provided affected subscribers with a 15-dollar credit when Disney channels were temporarily removed from the service.
