BTRC Boss Highlights Balance of Tariffs, Tech, and Threats
At a session of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC), Major General (Retd.) Md. Emdad Ul Bari, Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), emphasized the importance of mobile tariff regulation, cybersecurity concerns, and the environmental impact of e-waste management.
The session, titled “Signal and Shield: Mobile Tariffs, Cyber Security and E-Waste Matters,” was held on August 18 (Monday) as part of the six-month-long 78th Foundation Training Course (FTC). In his address, the BTRC Chairman outlined the challenges of regulatory activities while highlighting sustainable and forward-looking solutions for the telecommunications and cyber security sectors. He also shared knowledge and professional insights on critical issues in the digital era.
This foundational training course, the second for Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) officials and the third for BTRC officials, began on June 22 and will conclude on December 18.
As part of the program, Faruq Wasif, Director General of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), delivered a lecture the same day on “The indispensable role of principled journalism in democracy, governance, and building a just society.”
The long-term training also shed light on digital transformation in government operations and innovation, with special focus on integrating emerging technologies such as IoT, Big Data, and ChatGPT to accelerate workflows.
