YouTube Yields Eid Hits as Dramas Dominate Trending Charts
YouTube has steadily carved out its own space beyond traditional media platforms, especially during festive seasons. In celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, several production houses have released a variety of original dramas exclusively for YouTube audiences. Notably, one channel alone has released a dozen dramas this Eid, and one of its productions has secured the top spot on YouTube’s trending list in Bangladesh.
A number of Eid-special dramas released on YouTube have already stirred significant buzz online. Many have drawn praise from viewers and are trending high on the platform. Among the current top 10 trending videos on YouTube, four are full-length dramas. The rest include short videos and a popular music video from a Shakib Khan film.
Currently leading the trending chart is the single-episode drama Ashiqi, which premiered on CMV’s YouTube channel on June 8. The drama, featuring Jovan in the role of a rockstar for the first time, stars Naznin Niha opposite him. Directed by Imroze Shaon and scripted by Parvez Imam, the drama has already crossed 12 million views.
The second, third, and fourth positions on the trending list are occupied by short-form videos.
In the fifth spot is Khoto Puron, a drama directed by Muhammad Mostafa Kamal Raz. The central roles are played by Yash Rohan and Malaika Chowdhury, the younger sister of popular actress Mehazabien. The cast also includes Nader Chowdhury, Monira Akhtar Mithu, Rashed Mamun Apu, and Sushoma Sarkar. Released on June 10 via the CinemaWala YouTube channel, the drama garnered 3.3 million views in just three days.
At number six is Koti Takar Chairman, featuring Niloy Alamgir and Himi in lead roles. Other cast members include Saidur Rahman Pavel, Shiblu Mridha, Zahid Islam, and Javed Gazi. Written and directed by Mitul Khan, the drama premiered on June 8 on the Peacock Entertainment channel and reached 5 million views within five days.
Seventh on the trending list is Ghran, released by Dhoopchhaya Entertainment. The drama, which has attracted 320,000 views in three days, features Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Naznin Nahar Niha in the lead roles. The script is by Imad Babul and the direction by Mashrikul Alam. Veteran actors Dilara Zaman and Roxy Siddiqui also appear in the production.
Positions eight through eleven are occupied by short videos, while following closely is a music video released on Chorki’s YouTube channel titled Ke Dil Piritir Bera Lichur Bagane?, a song from a much-discussed Shakib Khan movie. In 11 days, the video has amassed 13 million views.
