"I Have Not Resigned Yet"--Advisor Nahid Islam

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens' Committee are moving forward with the formation of a new political party, set to be officially launched on February 26. According to sources, Nahid Islam is expected to lead the new party.

Nahid Islam currently serves as an advisor to the interim government, overseeing both the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. Speculation about his resignation surfaced after his visit to Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna on Sunday night. Notably, while his car bore the national flag upon arrival, it was absent when he departed, leading to rumors that he had resigned from the advisory council.

However, these rumors were dismissed by Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who confirmed on Sunday night that Nahid Islam had not resigned. Another source added that Nahid occasionally travels without the national flag on his car.

Addressing the rumors directly, Nahid Islam told the media, "I have not resigned yet. The news circulating is just a rumor."

Nahid Islam rose to prominence as the spokesperson for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement during the quota reform protests, becoming a well-known figure while studying sociology at the University of Dhaka.
