A new mobile application named Abohawabid has been launched to provide accurate weather forecasts and timely alerts to people across Bangladesh, helping communities better prepare for natural disasters and adverse weather conditions.

Developed as an extension of the weather information platform abohawa.com, the application became officially available for Android users on Wednesday and can now be downloaded free of charge from the Google Play Store.

The app is designed to make weather forecasts, severe weather alerts, and disaster-related information easily accessible to the public, particularly those vulnerable to climate-related risks.

Confirming the launch, Mustafa Kamal Palash, Founder of the application and Chief Meteorologist of abohawa.com, said the platform underwent extensive testing before its public release.

According to Palash, nearly 100 volunteers from different districts and professional backgrounds across Bangladesh participated in a month-long trial phase to evaluate the application's functionality, accuracy, and user experience.

“The overwhelmingly positive feedback received during the testing period gave us the confidence to officially launch the app for public use,” he said.

Speaking at the launch event, Palash emphasized the growing importance of reliable weather information in an era of climate change and increasing natural disasters.

“Timely and accurate information plays a critical role in protecting lives and property. The primary goal of the Abohawabid app is to ensure that early warnings and dependable weather information reach people as quickly as possible,” he said.

He also expressed hope for continued public support and cooperation as the platform expands its services nationwide.

Technology observers believe the application could become a valuable tool for farmers, fishermen, transport operators, and the general public by providing real-time weather updates and early warning information. They say wider access to accurate forecasts could help reduce disaster-related losses and improve preparedness across the country.
