Chattogram Polytechnic Institute Dominates ASSET Skill Competition 2025
The ASSET Skill Competition 2025 concluded at the field of Chattogram Polytechnic Institute, bringing together 342 selected students from 38 technical education institutions across the region with 114 innovative projects on display. The regional competition was organised under the “Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET)” project.
Teams from Chattogram Polytechnic Institute claimed both the championship and first runners-up titles. The champion team secured the top position for their firefighting robot integrated with an IoT-based monitoring system, while the first runners-up were recognised for their smart city concept focused on disaster management solutions.
Students from participating institutions showcased a wide range of innovative projects, including earthquake-resistant buildings, agricultural robots, geopolymer sustainable concrete, carbon purification factories, glove-based communication systems for speech-impaired individuals, modern farming solutions, magic burners, natural cooling systems, smart irrigation, rainwater harvesting, eco-friendly and green buildings, mountain roads using cantilever beams, sustainable irrigation technologies, laser-beam air defence systems, human-following robots, smart warning systems for mountain road curves, floating houses, gas leakage detectors, hydrodynamic systems, and robotic AI assistants.
From the regional round, nine projects were selected to compete in the national phase, scheduled to be held in Dhaka on December 27.
The competition was organised under the ASSET project, implemented by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
The event was attended by Shoeb Ahmed Khan, Additional Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Division; Md. Zainal Abedin, Director (Administration) of the Directorate of Technical Education; and Kazi Faruk Ahmed, Regional Director (Deputy Secretary) for the Chattogram region.
The programme was chaired by Chattogram District Commissioner Md. Zahidul Islam Mia, while the keynote paper was presented by Rezwanul Haque, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Technical Education.
Earlier, on September 27, the institutional round of the competition was held simultaneously at 211 technical education institutions across the country, where nearly 10,000 students participated with 3,209 innovative projects.
