Speaking after his election, President Sumon Mia said, “Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, throughout his lifetime, fought against oppression, exploitation, and inequality to protect the rights of farmers, workers, and common people. His ideals teach us to stand up against injustice. Unfortunately, that shining history has not been properly conveyed to the new generation. As students of MBSTU, we feel a responsibility to spread his life and philosophy. Through the student foundation, we will continue to work toward that goal.”
General Secretary Tanvir Islam Tamim stated, “Our main objective is the overall development of the young generation by embracing the ideals of Bhashani. His spirit of struggle, vision for protecting the rights of farmers and workers, and his commitment to the Liberation War and democracy remain a source of inspiration. Through the foundation, we are encouraging students in research, knowledge-sharing, and cultural activities. At the same time, we are conducting initiatives like supporting underprivileged yet meritorious students, blood donation, relief distribution, and environmentally friendly programs.”
The mission of the Mawlana Bhashani Student Foundation is to ensure the overall development of youth by upholding the ideals of the “Majlum Jananeta” (Leader of the Oppressed) Bhashani. The organization has been spreading his life and philosophy among students through research, webinars, seminars, cultural festivals, poetry and debate competitions. It has also initiated projects such as establishing the “Bhashani Library Corner,” leadership training, financial support for meritorious but disadvantaged students, blood donation drives, relief efforts, environmental protection campaigns, tree plantation, and the promotion of Liberation War and democratic values.
Furthermore, the foundation is actively working to preserve Bhashani’s memorial sites, including the Darbar Hall, Shahjahan Dighi, and the Kagmari Conference Pillar. It is expected that the foundation will continue playing an effective role in the holistic development of students, nurturing human values, and building a progressive society.
