Nov 24, 2025 18:05

Fake notices have resurfaced on social media. A gang is attempting fraud by circulating a counterfeit notice claiming to be from the police’s special unit, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The gang is trying to scare people and trap them using various alleged charges, including cybercrime, pornography, and foreign currency transactions.

On Monday afternoon, November 24, the organization’s Special Police Superintendent (Media), Jasim Uddin Khan, shared this information.

He stated that the notices recently circulated on online platforms are completely fake, false, and misleading. Through these notices, criminals are attempting to deceive people. The CID has clearly stated that it has no connection with such notices.

The organization reported that investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the fake notices. Legal action will be taken swiftly against those involved in creating and spreading these notices. The CID has advised the public not to be misled by suspicious notices, certificates, or messages sent by anyone, and to contact the CID’s official sources if necessary.

Jasim Uddin also noted that these fake notices are not just a part of fraud schemes but could also be attempts to steal personal information. People are therefore advised to remain cautious when encountering unfamiliar links, messages, or suspicious notices.

The law enforcement agency has also urged institutions and individuals to increase awareness and take proactive steps to prevent cyber fraud and ensure digital security.
