China is set to introduce a new visa aimed at young science and technology experts. Primarily designed to promote technological innovation and self-reliance, the special visa, named the “K Visa,” will take effect from October 1.

On Thursday, August 14, the State Council of China officially announced the new visa.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the main objective of this visa is to attract talented young professionals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from around the world. “Applicants for the K-type visa must have graduated from a renowned domestic or international university or research institution, or be engaged in research at such institutions,” the report added.

Through this initiative, China aims to ensure that only highly qualified and well-educated individuals will benefit from the special visa.

One of the main advantages of the new visa is its simplified application process. Unlike other regular visas, applicants do not require a Chinese employer or sponsoring organization. Additionally, holders of this special visa will be allowed multiple entries into China, and the duration and validity of the visa will be more flexible than typical visas.

While the specific age limit has not yet been disclosed, it is expected to apply to individuals under 40 to 45 years of age.
