Under the slogan, “Do GD Online, Receive Services Easily,” Bangladesh Police has introduced various initiatives to bring police services closer to the public. As part of this effort, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched the facility for filing General Diaries (GD) online at 50 police stations across the capital since August 10.

Previously, only GDs related to lost or found items could be filed online. Now, any type of GD can be submitted from home via a mobile app or the official website.

On the night of Thursday, August 14, DMP’s Deputy Police Commissioner of Media and Public Relations, Mohammad Talebur Rahman, stated, “Once registered through the ‘Online GD’ app available on Google Play Store, citizens can avail this service. The same process is possible through the web portal as well. Applicants will receive a GD number and updates regarding the submitted GD, just like at a police station.”

The applicant’s information is secured through verification of the registered mobile number and National ID, ensuring personal confidentiality.

He added, “Through online GDs, police transparency and accountability will improve while saving citizens’ valuable time. Beyond filing a GD, citizens can track actions taken by the police based on the GD, providing added convenience and reassurance.”

The traditional in-person GD filing process will continue alongside the new online service.
