Foxconn Fires Up iPhone 17 Trial Assembly in India

Foxconn has begun trial assembly of the iPhone 17 in India, with full-scale production expected to commence in August, according to a report by Techclusive.
The report notes that key components such as display assemblies, cover glass, mechanical housings, and rear camera modules have already been shipped from factories in China to India. This preliminary production is seen as part of the preparation for the official launch of the iPhone 17, expected in September this year.
Notably, both the base and Pro models are being assembled in India for the first time, signaling a significant shift in Apple’s manufacturing strategy.
Apple has adopted a long-term plan to expand its production and export capacity in India, with Tata Electronics playing a crucial role in the process. Recent data indicates that nearly 10 percent of Foxconn’s imports in June consisted of iPhone 17 components.
Apple reportedly aims to move all iPhone production destined for the U.S. out of China and into India by 2026.
