A new association titled Airlines GSA Forum of Bangladesh has officially been launched, uniting the local general sales agents (GSAs) representing foreign airlines operating in the country. The forum was inaugurated at a glittering event held on May 25 at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka, where its official logo was also unveiled.

Representatives of both domestic and international airlines attended the ceremony and welcomed the formation of the forum with goodwill remarks.

It was revealed during the event that over 70 foreign airlines currently conduct their business operations in Bangladesh through appointed GSAs. Initially, 28 GSA companies—representing more than 50 foreign airlines—have joined the forum as founding members. The forum’s initiators expressed optimism that other GSA companies would soon follow suit.

The event was graced by the presence of Air Vice Marshal M. Mofidur Rahman Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), as the chief guest. Among the key forum members present were Khaled Yousuf Farazi, Arif Rahman, Mohammad Habib Ullah Don, Sohag Hossain, M.A. Latif Shahriar Zahedi, Mizanur Rahman, and Muzakker Haque. Other attendees included Mahbubul Anam, Rajibul Haque Chowdhury, Shadat Hossain, Yami M. Saleh, Yusuf Walid, and Toufiq Uddin Ahmed.

A keynote presentation on Bangladesh’s aviation sector was delivered by Muzakker Haque, Director of TAS Group. The presentation highlighted that airlines currently operate direct flights from Bangladesh to 30 international destinations, serving at least 12 million passengers annually and transporting around 250,000 tons of cargo. The air travel industry involves nearly 5,000 small and large enterprises and provides employment to approximately 125,000 individuals.

Regarding the forum’s purpose and objectives, organizers stated that it aims to serve as a unified platform to represent the collective interests of GSA companies and the aviation industry in Bangladesh. It will also work actively with government bodies and regulators in favor of a fair and progressive aviation policy, contribute to the professional development of GSAs and aviation personnel through training, seminars, and workshops, and engage with the international community to present Bangladesh as a promising aviation hub.
