Musk’s Popularity Dips Post-Power Surge

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest person and tech entrepreneur, has seen a decline in popularity as his influence grew in Washington, according to a recent survey by the AP-NORC Center. The survey revealed that currently, only 33% of U.S. adults have a positive view of Musk, down from 41% in December.

Musk served as the primary spokesperson for President Donald Trump’s efforts to make the U.S. federal government smaller and more efficient. However, nearly two-thirds of adults believe Musk’s recent activities have exerted undue influence on the government.

While Musk initiated government spending cuts through the establishment of the "Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)," he has not achieved the desired outcomes. He now intends to focus more on Tesla.

The survey also showed that Musk enjoys greater popularity among Republicans, but his support has notably declined among Democrats and independent voters. The survey was conducted from April 17 to 21.
