E-Commerce Hubs to Boost Ethnic Entrepreneurship in Hill Districts
Plans are underway to construct multi-storied buildings in the three hill districts of Bangladesh to facilitate online marketing and sales platforms for locally produced goods, according to Ambassador (Retd.) Supradeep Chakma, Adviser on Hill Affairs.
Speaking at an exchange meeting with women entrepreneurs at the Rangamati Hill District Council conference room on Sunday, he announced the initiative to establish Facebook Villages, specialized online marketplaces, and Ethnic Community Village platforms to promote ethnic products.
Expressing optimism about the participation of female entrepreneurs, Supradeep Chakma stated, "We have taken steps to build three multi-storied structures in these districts, subject to land availability. These locations will feature various platforms aimed at empowering entrepreneurs financially, including Facebook Village, Fantastic Platform, Entrepreneur Fair, and Ethnic Community Village."
He further assured that training programs will be arranged for women entrepreneurs if needed, along with financial assistance to foster their business growth. "When a good initiative is taken, positive outcomes follow," he remarked.
Emphasizing the importance of innovation, he noted, "To become a successful entrepreneur, one must introduce modifications or new ideas in existing products to attract customers. Women in the hill districts need to embrace innovation to achieve financial independence."
The adviser also highlighted his vision for the region, stating, "I want to see harmonious development in the hill districts, focusing on quality education, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental conservation."
The event was presided over by Kajol Talukder, Chairman of the Rangamati Hill District Council, who delivered the welcome speech. Among the other speakers were Nandita Chakma, Trisila, Sanjida, and Monowara Begum, while Khondokar Rezaul Karim, Chief Executive Officer of the Rangamati District Council, moderated the program.
