APBn Trained to Tackle MFS Misuse Ahead of National Election

Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have been trained in identifying and preventing crimes related to digital financial transactions in order to curb the misuse of mobile financial services (MFS) and raise awareness ahead of the upcoming national election. The workshop also featured in-depth discussions on bringing criminal networks under the purview of the law by effectively utilizing available intelligence and information.

The workshop was organized by MFS provider bKash and held at the APBn Headquarters Training Center, with the participation of 40 officers from the Armed Police Battalion. The event was attended as the chief guest by the Director General of the Armed Police Battalion and Additional Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir. The special guest was former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police and adviser to bKash, Dr Md Najibur Rahman.

Also present at the workshop were Deputy Inspector General (Administration) Md Nazrul Islam, NDC; Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr Md Al Mamunul Ansari; and bKash Executive Vice President and Head of External Affairs Major AKM Monirul Karim (Retd), along with other senior officials from the Armed Police Battalion and bKash.

During the workshop, participants discussed various crime patterns carried out through the misuse of MFS platforms, methods for identifying criminal syndicates through data and intelligence analysis, and techniques for monitoring digital transactions. The officers were also briefed on technological approaches to recovering customers’ funds, preventing abduction-related extortion and fraudulent transactions, and the procedures for emergency coordination with relevant bKash officials. In addition, institutional communication channels with bKash were highlighted to ensure swift and effective cooperation in investigative processes.
