Sony Sees Stronger Surge
Sony, the Japanese technology and entertainment conglomerate, has raised its profit forecast for the current fiscal year by 8 percent, setting the projection at 1.43 trillion yen (approximately USD 9.48 billion). According to the company, lower-than-expected impacts from U.S. tariffs and notable growth in its anime and semiconductor businesses have driven this upward revision, Reuters reported.
In the quarter from July to September, Sony’s operating profit increased by 10 percent to reach 429 billion yen. The music and animation division made a significant contribution to this rise, particularly due to the success of the popular anime film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.”
Once best known for its household electronic appliances, Sony now stands as a major force in the global entertainment industry.
However, the company’s gaming division saw a decline in profit, largely due to accounting for losses related to the game “Destiny 2.” During the same period, Sony sold 3.9 million units of the PlayStation 5, slightly higher than the sales recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.
