Google Grants Gemini Pro: Free AI Access for Bangladeshi University Students
Bangladeshi university and higher education students are set to receive free access to Google’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) model, Gemini Pro, under the Gemini for Education initiative. The program, launched for several countries, aims to empower university-level students by providing them with AI tools for research, coding, creative work, and complex problem-solving—making their academic journey more dynamic and efficient.
According to Google, students will be able to use Gemini Pro completely free of charge. To access the service, they must sign in to their Gmail account using their institution’s official email address and then activate Gemini Pro via its official website.
Initially, eligible students will get one-year access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, which includes tools like Deep Research and Audio Overview, along with 2 terabytes of online storage at no cost. Additionally, they can use the VEO 3 model to transform images into videos. Registration must be completed by December 9 to avail the offer.
Google stated that Gemini for Education is a newly launched version of the Gemini app tailored specifically to meet educational needs. The update, part of Google’s broader education platform, is designed to help students learn more effectively with the aid of AI. Instead of merely providing answers, the new Gemini version acts as a learning companion, guiding students through topics and concepts interactively.
Describing the opportunity as a “blessing for Bangladesh,” Safayet Hossain, Associate Professor and Director of IQAC at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), said, “In many Western universities, AI tools are available to students either for free or at reduced costs, allowing them to use AI for various academic purposes. Google’s decision to offer Gemini Pro for free will help Bangladeshi students enhance their AI-driven skills. It will also greatly benefit students interested in research.”
