Cooling the Chain: Cold Storage Industry Showcased in Dhaka
The cold chain industry, which plays a crucial role in preserving agricultural products such as onions, mango pulp, tomatoes, carrots, meat, and dates, is making significant contributions to Bangladesh’s agroeconomy. In a bid to expand and promote business activities in this sector, a three-day international exhibition titled “SAFE HVACR and Cold Chain 2025” has commenced at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
The exhibition features various companies specializing in cold chain and cold storage technology, infrastructure development, and HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) solutions. Participants are showcasing their latest commercial cold storage models and emphasizing the importance of cold chain infrastructure in Bangladesh’s agricultural and food sectors. The exhibition remains open to all visitors until 7:00 PM on Saturday.
The event was officially inaugurated on Thursday morning by Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman.
Special guests included Mustafa Azad Chowdhury, President of the Bangladesh Cold Storage Association; Bilal Belyut, Commercial Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka; Han Jingchao, President of the Trade and Services Branch of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB); Nur Alam, President of ASHRAE Bangladesh Chapter; Engineer Md. Hasmatuzzaman, former president of ASHRAE; and Md. Faizul Alam, Managing Director of Safe Air International Ltd.
Speaking as the chief guest, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman said, “Cold chain entrepreneurs are ensuring the country’s food security. By preserving mango pulp, tomatoes, carrots, meat, and dates, they are making a significant contribution to the agricultural economy. A Korean company has come forward with initiatives for onion preservation.”
At the inaugural event, organizers highlighted that this is one of the largest exhibitions focusing on the HVACR and cold chain industries. Government and private sector representatives are visiting the exhibition, exploring a wide array of technologies and service solutions.
