Technology giant Google has taken a major step to make artificial intelligence more affordable and accessible to everyday users worldwide by significantly reducing the price of its entry-level AI subscription plan, Google AI Plus.

According to an official post by Bikash Kansal, Product Lead for Google's Gemini AI subscription services, the monthly fee for the AI Plus plan has been reduced from $8 to $5. In addition to the price cut, the cloud storage allocation included with the subscription has been doubled from 200GB to 400GB.

Google introduced the AI Plus plan in January 2026 to provide users with cost-effective access to premium AI capabilities, including Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, and Deep Research. Previously, these advanced features were largely reserved for subscribers of the more expensive AI Pro plan. The AI Plus package was designed as a more affordable alternative with moderated usage limits for mainstream users.

Following the recently concluded Google I/O 2026 conference, Google has also expanded the plan’s feature set by adding several new AI-powered benefits.

Among the latest additions are advanced AI-assisted email writing tools for Gmail and a new “Daily Brief” agent integrated into the Gemini application. The Daily Brief feature is designed to summarize users’ schedules, meetings, and key information throughout the day, providing a streamlined overview of upcoming tasks and commitments.

Perhaps the most notable addition is access to Google’s newly launched multimodal model, Gemini Omni. With Gemini Omni, users can generate high-quality videos from a wide range of inputs, including text, audio, and images.

Industry analysts view Google’s aggressive price reduction and expanded storage offering as a strategic move to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive AI market. The initiative is also seen as an effort to retain users within Google’s ecosystem amid growing competition from major rivals in the artificial intelligence sector.

Technology observers in Silicon Valley believe that the combination of lower pricing, enhanced AI capabilities, and increased cloud storage makes the AI Plus plan a compelling offering for consumers seeking advanced AI tools without paying premium subscription fees.
