Washington Conference Focuses on Investment and Digital Finance Collaboration
A two-day conference on international investment and digital financial systems has begun in Washington, D.C.. The event was inaugurated on Friday (April 17, local time) at the Embassy Suites by Hilton by the In Search of Roots Foundation (ISORF).
ISORF president Raihanul Islam Chowdhury delivered the welcome address at the opening ceremony. The session was moderated by Mark Jaffe, president of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce. Bangladeshi-origin diplomat in the United States Osman Siddiqui, former US Ambassador Harry K. Thomas Jr., former diplomat John F. Danilovich, and vice president of the DC Chamber of Commerce, Keith Andrew Perry delivered their speeches at the event.
On the first day of the conference, discussions were held on financial policies, transaction reforms, and cost efficiency under public-private partnerships. Participants included Kamal Quadir, former chief economist Dr. Birupaksha Pal, World Bank energy sector specialist Raihan Elahi, and Harun Or Rashid. They noted that mobile-based financial services in Bangladesh have expanded rapidly over the past decade, significantly enhancing financial inclusion through technology-driven services.
Speakers also emphasized the need to strengthen international transactions, regulatory coordination, and cybersecurity measures. Over the two-day conference, multiple sessions will focus on investment opportunities, digital banking, fintech innovation, and the role of technology in the economies of developing countries.
Organizers stated that the primary goal of the conference is to build effective connections among policymakers, entrepreneurs, and expatriate investors from the United States and Bangladesh.
