Two-Day International Conference on Digital Finance and Investment Kicks Off in Washington

A two-day international conference on investment and digital financial systems has commenced in Washington. The event was inaugurated at the Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel by In Search of Root Foundation (ISORF) on April 17.

In the opening ceremony, welcome remarks were delivered by Rayhanul Islam Chowdhury, President of ISORF. The session was moderated by Mark Jeff, President of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce. Key speakers included US-based Bangladeshi diplomat Osman Siddiqui, former US Ambassador Harry K. Thomas, former diplomat John F. Danilovich, and Deputy Chair of the DC Chamber of Commerce Keith Andrew Perry.

On the first day, a dialogue focused on public-private partnership financial policies, transaction reform, and cost efficiency was held. Speakers included Kamal Quadir, Founder & CEO of bKash, former Chief Economist of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Birupaksha Pal, World Bank energy sector specialist Rayhan Elahi, and Bangladesh Bank Director Harun Or Rashid. They highlighted that mobile-based financial services in Bangladesh have rapidly expanded over the past decade, significantly improving financial inclusion through technology-driven solutions.

The participants also emphasized the need to strengthen international transactions, regulatory coordination, and cybersecurity. Throughout the two-day conference, multiple sessions will discuss investment opportunities, digital banking, fintech innovation, and the role of technology in emerging economies. Organizers stated that the primary goal is to foster effective communication among policymakers, entrepreneurs, and expatriate investors from both the US and Bangladesh.
