Bangladesh–China Tech & Trade Ties: Lu’an Talks Highlight Agri-Tech, SME, and Skills Collaboration
There is significant potential for bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and China in modern agricultural technology, small and medium enterprise (SME) development, waste management, and workforce skill enhancement, said Ismail Jabiullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Administration Affairs and a member of the Advisory Council to the BNP Chairperson.
He made the remarks on Saturday, April 18, during a meeting with a high-level delegation from the municipal government of Lu'an. The 19-member high-level BNP delegation, visiting China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is being led by Ismail Jabiullah.
The Chinese side was led by Li Qiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Lu’an Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor. Also present were Liu Zhengwang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Lu’an Municipal Government, and Qin Fei, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office. Prior to the meeting, the delegation visited Guapian Tea Company Limited, one of China’s top ten tea-producing enterprises. “We observed firsthand how excellence and global competitiveness can be achieved through a combination of tradition and modern technology. As an agriculture-based country, Bangladesh can utilize this experience to improve agro-processing and value chains,” he said. He added that the longstanding relationship of trust and mutual respect between Bangladesh and China would be further strengthened through such visits. After the visit, the delegation attended a dinner hosted by the Mayor of Lu’an city.
As part of the tour, on April 17 the delegation visited the renowned automobile company JAC Motors and the University of Science and Technology of China. During an interaction with Bangladeshi students studying at the university, the future state-restructuring plans and vision of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman were presented. The students expressed their commitment to returning home after completing their studies and contributing to national development.
The 19-member BNP delegation arrived in China on April 16 at the invitation of the CPC. Other members of the delegation include former minister Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Mohammad Shamsuzzaman Dudu, SM Asaduzzaman Ripon, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Nazmul Haque Nannu, Baby Nazneen, Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal, Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Mostafizur Rahman Babul, Kamruzzaman Ratan, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni, Sayed Al Noman, Monowar Hossain, Sanzida Islam, Kamal Anwar Ahmed, Md. Aman Ullah Aman, and Mir Solaiman.
