Fuel oil prices in the country have been increased once again. According to the newly fixed rates, the price of octane has been set at Tk 140 per litre, petrol at Tk 135 per litre, and diesel at Tk 115 per litre.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

The new prices will come into effect from 19 April.

As of Saturday, 18 April, the price of crude oil (Brent crude) in the international market has remained at approximately $96–98 per barrel, which is nearly 40 percent higher compared to the past year.

In Dhaka, last month’s consumer prices stood at Tk 100 per litre for diesel, Tk 120 per litre for octane, Tk 116 per litre for petrol, and Tk 112 per litre for kerosene. Under the newly announced rates, diesel has increased by around Tk 15 per litre, octane by Tk 20, petrol by Tk 19, and kerosene by Tk 18 per litre.

Despite the rise in global crude oil prices, the government is working to maintain current fuel reserves and supply security while avoiding load shedding and supply shortages. Initiatives have also been taken to ensure adequate fuel distribution across different locations without placing an additional burden on consumers.
