A new cultural movement titled “Tara” made its debut in Dhaka with the gentle radiance of an evening star descending into the night sky. The inaugural event, “Tara Unplugged,” held at Café 138 East in Gulshan, transformed into a captivating night where art, music, and humanity blended in harmony. Launched to inspire a creative future for young people, the movement’s first step felt like a profound experience carved out of light and shadow.

As the evening deepened and the stage lit up, the celebrated magic of music began to unfold. Renowned Coke Studio Bangla artiste Sanjida Mahmood Nandita graced the stage. When her voice rose through the familiar tune of Bulbuli and other songs, the audience responded with expressions of both wonder and serenity. Her vocals merged nostalgia and modernity to create an ethereal experience—breathing life into the launch of “Tara.”

In a unique acoustic arrangement, Nandita was accompanied by Mozie & Co. guitarist Shubhendu Das Shubo. Their seamless blend of voice and guitar filled the venue with an enchanting chemistry. Young singer Animesh Roy also shone with a spirited performance that added youthful energy to the evening.

Guests attending the event noted that initiatives like this can illuminate not only the realm of music but also society, the youth community, and the wider creative landscape. Its aesthetic clarity and authentic creativity are expected to foster a new cultural dialogue. The success of the opening night underscored the growing need for such platforms.

Jannatul Ferdous Moon, founder and dreamer behind Tara, said the initiative marks the beginning of a cultural awakening. With a long-term vision to reconnect young people with Bangla music, literature, history, heritage, and human values, “Tara” also aims to offer a platform for promising young artists. “Tara Unplugged” is the movement’s first spark, first melody, and first step of faith.

Every month, Tara plans to host cultural festivals, creative assemblies, corporate showcases, and special theme-based events. Through this series of programmes, the cultural movement intends to step into a new era.

Tara Unplugged was more than just an event—it was like the first light of a new dawn, signalling that Bangla culture is ready to shine once again, under the name “Tara.”
