Slack Shifts Structure to Smart Synergy

At the recent Dreamforce tech conference in San Francisco, Salesforce’s productivity and collaboration platform Slack announced a major structural transformation, introducing itself as an “agentic operating system.” The reimagined platform brings together people, data, agents, and AI within a single conversational workspace, allowing every stage of work and workflow to be completed seamlessly.

The company said this shift redefines the very concept of work, enabling humans and AI agents to collaborate smoothly through shared data and dialogue, thereby enhancing productivity and accelerating decision-making.

As part of this update, Salesforce’s Agentforce Sales, IT and HR Services, and Tableau have been integrated directly into Slack. With this integration, teams can now manage customer information, conduct analyses, and utilize AI tools—all without the need for separate apps or dashboards.

A recent study by the global research firm Boston Consulting Group found that a 30% rise in employee productivity can lead to a 50% increase in overall profitability. Meanwhile, IDC, a global market intelligence and advisory firm, forecasts that AI’s impact on the global economy will exceed $22 trillion by 2030.

Among the new additions is Agentforce Channel Expert, an in-channel AI agent capable of responding instantly to common customer queries as well as process- and policy-related questions. By automating these interactions, employees can focus more on strategic and high-value work.

Other features include Agentforce Sales, which provides real-time insights and record updates for pipeline management, while Agentforce IT and HR Services deliver human resource solutions. Agentforce Tableau integrates live dashboards and analytics directly into conversations, enabling faster, data-driven decisions.

Slack has also redesigned its Slackbot, which now functions as a personal AI assistant. It can automatically create project plans, analyze reports, set task priorities, and perform actions across integrated platforms like Google Drive, Salesforce, and OneDrive.

Andy White, Senior Vice President of Salesforce Technology, said, “Slackbot is showing us what the next era of productivity will look like: AI will act as a personal companion to every worker. It’s helping our Salesforce teams bring order to chaos faster, allowing them to dedicate more time to meaningful work that benefits our customers.”

For developers and enterprises, the update introduces tools such as the Real-Time Search (RTS) API, Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, and an AI Developer Toolkit. These additions enable partner organizations—including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Dropbox, and Notion—to build context-aware AI agents powered by Slack’s evolving infrastructure.
