JUST Mourns the Passing of Senior Staff Member Billal Hossain
The Vice-Chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Md. Billal Hossain, Office Assistant of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME).
Billal Hossain passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, at Green Hospital in Dhaka, due to excessive bleeding caused by a brain tumor. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. His funeral prayer was held at 2:00 p.m. at the premises of Balia Bhekutia Bazar Jame Mosque, attended by teachers, students, officers, and staff of the university.
Earlier, on Wednesday, October 1, he had been admitted to Jashore 250-Bed General Hospital after suffering a brain stroke and was placed on life support. On Friday, October 3, doctors advised his immediate transfer to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment as his condition deteriorated. He was taken to Dhaka by ambulance at 3:00 p.m., but upon arrival his health further worsened, prompting his admission to Green Hospital, where he passed away early the following morning.
A resident of the southern neighborhood of Balia Bhekutia village in Ward No. 2 of Arap Pur Union under Jashore Sadar Upazila, Billal Hossain was about 40 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
In a condolence message, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid said, “Md. Billal Hossain was a senior employee of JUST. Since the university’s inception, he had played a dedicated role in advancing its mission. We gratefully remember his contributions. His untimely demise has cast a shadow of mourning over the JUST family. I express my deepest condolences and pray for the forgiveness of his departed soul. I also extend heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family.”
Teachers, students, officers, and employees of Jashore University of Science and Technology have also expressed deep grief over his passing. Various social and cultural organizations of the university have similarly conveyed their sorrow and condolences.
