At present, there are about 2 million ethnic peoples of various communities in Bangladesh. Among them, special ‘Learning and Earning’, ‘Her Power’ and freelancing training projects will be taken up for the Garo community, said Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology.

The Minister of State for ICT made this promise at the closing ceremony of the 132nd Annual General Meeting of Garo Baptist Convention, Bangladesh on Sunday, 12 February, 2023.

While speaking as the chief guest, Palak said that the country does not have mineral resources like gold and silver. But there are more valuable human resources. Bangladesh has started conquering the world by using that resource with the power of technology. From villages to hills are also participating in this mission. In this case, internet service is being delivered from house to house to bring the world in hand.

The state minister said, ‘Inspired by the success of the successful freelancer Trishna Deo, he will conduct a tribal freelancing camp for the first time on February 17 with Santals living in his constituency’.

According to the demands of Upazila Chairman David Rana Chesim and Member of Parliament Jewel Areng, the State Minister promised to set up a ‘Joy Digital Center and Employment Center’ on the 5th floor of Haluaghat Technical Training Center (TTC) covering 5000 square feet at a cost of Tk. 2 crore.

He said, we will set up another Joy Digital Center in Dhobaura too. Along with this, we will start a project to develop smart women entrepreneurs to exploit the opportunities of the development of the technology industry. On an urgent basis, I will give 50,000 taka as seed money to 20 entrepreneurs including one woman entrepreneur from 19 unions and one from the municipal council. Later, I will train 400 more people from two ‘Upazilas under ‘Her Power Project’. Make them smart entrepreneurs.

Palak said, I want to build the ‘Golden Bengal’ of Bangabandhu's dream with golden people on golden soil. For this we want your collective cooperation. Just as everyone risked their lives to defeat Pakistan Army during the liberation war, we have to win the cyber war by preventing propaganda against the country and the state on social media.

The ICT State Minister handed over 5 laptops to freelancer Trishna Deo at the event. At the same time, a personal gift of 20 thousand taka was given to the organizers of the event.

The main speaker was Dr. Meryl N. Sangma. Pankaj Marak, President of GBC Bangladesh was present as the inaugural function of the meeting. Freedom fighter Mozammel Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatema Jannat, Chaldal founder CEO Zia Ashraf and others were present among others.
