CEOs with Bangladeshi origin successfully introduced Bangla SMS: Minister
Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mostafa Jabbar expressed relief saying that the Bengali operators of the country's mobile phone operators, without showing any excuse, have succeeded in halving the cost of sending Bangla SMS and sending 'all SMS / notifications in Bengali'.
He said that if the CEOs of the operators were not the children of Bengali mothers, they would not have been able to do this work in time in the name of technical problems. Because of them, I hope that this transformation will be fully possible by June 30.
At the same time, the minister expressed hope that Bengali will be the third language in the world in the next 50 years.
He said that in the digital world, Bangla language is not behind any other language. Because now Bengali can be used through all kinds of digital means. We fought and snatched our victory from the Icon and Unicode Consortium. Now we just have to overcome the limitations of its application.
The minister also urged the telecom operators to send short text messages in the language of the customer without translating from English to Bengali.
If China can be a country with a rich economy with its own language, then why can't we, asked Mostafa Jabbar.
“I am proud today,” he said. Today we have the ability to communicate with all the people of Bangladesh in our mother tongue. It's a big achievement in my life. The glorious work we have done in this auspicious moment on the eve of the golden jubilee as a tribute to Bangabandhu and the martyrs of all languages.
Post and Telecommunications Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman said that all the official work of the telecom department will be done in Bengali soon.
Mentioning that giving importance to Bangla language will enrich the economic and human resources, he said, adding that what the operators did in this case is a landmark event. I hope that very soon our language will also have a device through which we can listen to any language translated into Bengali.
Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman, Teletalk Managing Director Shahab Uddin, Robi Acting CEO Riaz Rashid and Banglalink Acting CEO Taimur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion while the BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder presided over the meeting.
BTRC Director General Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez presented the keynote address at the event.
