Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has signed an agreement with the Asian Institute of Technology to develop skilled human resources suitable for the fourth industrial revolution. Through this agreement, this Bangkok-based education and research institute will work together with Bangladesh to exchange global knowledge on the use of advanced technology in agriculture, business, industry, application of engineering knowledge, adoption of sustainable development plans and management by ensuring a friendly and safe environment.
Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Zeaul Alam presided over the program and Hi-Tech Park Authority consultant Tamjid Bin Ahmed conducted the event.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, Bangladesh has already made remarkable progress in global socio-economic indicators. In many cases, we have become a developing country by passing the target. Hopefully, through continuous growth, Bangladesh is now on the way to becoming the 24th largest economy in the world by 2036 under the guidance of our visionary advisor Sajib Wazed Joy and the competent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It has become the 41st biggest economic power country in the world as the report of Visual Capitalist. We witnessed digital readiness during covid 19 crisis. Bangladesh achieved a digital boom in multiple sectors. The E-commerce market has grown to 3.1 billion dollars in business with over 624 percent growth since 2010. It is expected to register another 80 percent in 2025. Bangladesh has already become a role model in the world of digital finance. This market in digital finance has grown literally over 500 percent since its inception.
"To keep up with the rapid technological change, we have the strategy to prepare skills for the knowledge and innovation economy in place. We are also facing the challenges of the constantly changing skillset requirements. We need high-end researchers who will become the game changers thru innovation that can bring more economic contributions to the country and the region. We have seen how AIT has become e economic backbone of Thailand in providing skilled human resources. I hope this MoU will indeed act as a key economic enabler in creating an agile intelligent smart, creative and innovative ecosystem that will drive the growth of the feature of Bangladesh. This MoU will create an opportunity for collaboration to develop programs to up skill human capacities thru professionals development progarm, students exchanges and exponential learning for Bangladeshi students in various label and strengthen research and innovation collaboration to develop complementing techgnology supply and demand for the region"- said Palak.
I am confident that this MoU and continuing this relationship. We can also explore the opportunities in tech-based skill and development, technological fellowship programs for youths, govt officials, journalists and industry experts to enhance the skillset in emerging technologies that will equipped students, researchers and journalists for the 4iR and beyond- he further added.
President of the Asian Institute of Technology Eden Y. Woon was present as a special guest and AIT directors Shawn kelley, Indra Kumar and many more concerned people were also joined in this virtual press meet.
Mr. Woon said, this agreement is just the beginning of a long journey in socio-economic development with the power of technology through the launch of post-graduate degrees, seminars and workshops. When I visited Dhaka before covid I was overwhelmed by the development of Bangladesh. Then State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak shared the vision of 2041 with me. In the meeting, we will work with mutual cooperation to bring out the creative talents of students, teachers and researchers for that time.
In the welcome speech, Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh expressed optimism that this agreement will help undergraduate youth in the software and hardware sector of our country with higher training to become qualified and skilled workers of the fourth industrial revolution. In this, Bangladesh will rise to a unique height in the digital world.
