In wind power generation. Bangladesh will be the role model in South Asia; Our engineers will acquire that capacity in wind power generation. They will show more skills in building a developed Bangladesh by 2041. Opined the President of the Engineers’ Institution Bangladesh-IEB Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur.

On Sunday, June 2nd, President of the Engineers' Institution Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur expressed his optimism while speaking as the Chief Guest at the seminar titled "Challenges of low wind speed for wind power generation in Bangladesh and exploration of possible solutions" organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering of IEB at the Engineers Institution of Bangladesh. The seminar was attended by leaders and experts from the wind power sector.

At the seminar, Md. Abdus Sabur highlighted the role of engineers in building a smart Bangladesh. Emphasizing the importance of strengthening Bangladesh's wind energy infrastructure, he said, “IEB is working diligently to improve the quality of wind engineering in Bangladesh. Which is very important for building strong wind power projects.” Mr. Sabur acknowledged the significant contribution of engineers in various fields including wind energy. He envisions a future where engineers will be instrumental in “implementing the plan to build a smart Bangladesh”.
He said that our 30,000 megawatts of electricity can be produced from various sources including the wind sector. He urged the authorities concerned to pay "close attention" to the recommendations received at the seminar to overcome the challenges of wind energy.

Engineer SM Manjurul Haque Manju, General Secretary of the Institution of Engineers delivered a welcome speech in the seminar. He focused on the importance of collaboration between engineers and policy makers to implement effective solutions.

Bangladesh Power Development Board Chairman (Grade-1) Engineer Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman was present as a special guest. He highlighted the importance of Bangladesh Power Development Board's role in integrating wind power into the national grid. He said that research is going on all over the world to develop renewable energy. PDB is working to increase experience with wind power in Bangladesh.

Power Cell Director General Engineer Mohammad Hossain gave the keynote address. He outlined the current electricity situation in Bangladesh and future plans for wind energy development.
He said, we now have the opportunity to plan wind power in addition to solar system.

The main article was presented by Coventry University Senior Lecturer Engineer Dr. Nurul Azim Bhuiya. He shared his international expertise through keynote presentations. His insights, focused on the advancement of wind energy technology or the successful strategies of other countries, could prove to be an invaluable asset for Bangladesh.

Engineer Mohammad Zulfikar Ali, chairman of the department presided over the seminar conducted by Engineer SM Al-Imran, Secretary of Electrical Techniques Department of IEB.

Besides, Engineer Kazi Mushtaq Ullah, Vice Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering, Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) participated in the keynote discussion.

The seminar indicated a collaborative effort to move Bangladesh towards a sustainable energy future. Encouraged open dialogue between engineers, policy makers and international experts. The seminar was enlightening and instructive to develop effective solutions to harness the full potential of wind energy, even to meet the challenges of low wind speeds.
