An interactive session on why hands-on science education is important was held

Hands-on science activities from an early age play an important role in education as well as fostering curiosity, critical thinking, observation and essential skills. They not only learn for fun but also build confidence, a positive attitude towards learning which later lays a strong foundation for their academic success.

Recently, Bangladesh Innovation Forum and Space Innovation Camp organized an interactive session titled "Hands-on science education is important" with students aged 4-14 years.

About 200 students from all over Bangladesh participated in the event.

Lafifa Jamal, Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University was the instructor in the session. She said: "Through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, the hands-on training that students take will develop team work, problem solving skills, attitudes and skills to solve complex problems. Their knowledge of science builds and students can become discoverers and innovators.”

The session was moderated by Bangladesh Innovation Forum President Ariful Hasan Apu.
He said: “Hands-on science practice plays a very important role in creating interest in science among students and developing scientific mindset in them. I think that science practice for children will include asking questions that arouse curiosity, trying to find answers to them, collecting data, conducting experiments, giving an opinion about the results, etc. The main goal of science practice in children is to increase the observation ability in children, to think with logic and reason, to increase the ability to make decisions through experiments.

It is to be noted that "Space Exploration Olympiad" powered by ACI Pure Salt is going to be held jointly by Bangladesh Innovation Forum and Space Innovation Camp to make children and teenagers interested in space science.
