Telecom expert Abu Saeed Khan passed away
Telecom expert Abu Saeed Khan succumbed to incurable cancer. In the 62nd year of his life, he passed away on Monday at 8:35 am while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital of the capital. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun.
Abu Said Khan was diagnosed with lung cancer about a year ago. His son Tawfiq Mahmud Don said that he was admitted to CMH on March 30 due to deterioration of his physical condition. His first Janaza, the funeral service will be held today at the CMH mosque after the Juhr prayers.
He will be buried next to his wife's grave after the second Janaza at Tangail.
A condolence message has been sent by the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers’ Association-BMPCA on his death. The message signed by the president of the organization, Mohiuddin Ahmed, said, "There is no doubt that his death has created a major crisis in policy making in the telecommunication sector."
ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhunya expressed deep grief over the death of late Abu Saeed Khan and said that this loss to the telecom sector is irreparable. His contribution to this sector will be remembered.
Before his death, Abu Said Khan was working as a senior policy fellow at Learn Asia, a Colombo-based think-tank. From August 2010 to July 2012, he served as the Secretary General of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh-AMTOB.
Prior to this, he was a Strategy Analyst at Ericsson's Southeast Asia Head Office in Malaysia until June 2010.
