Runner, the country's first motorcycle manufacturer and exporter is set to launch a three-wheeler EV (electric three-wheeler) by next September. This engine will then be replaced by an electric three-wheeler. Then Bangladesh will no longer have to import CNG from abroad. Then step by step affordable two-wheeled and four-wheeled electric cars will come. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has expressed hope that Runner will become Tesla of Bangladesh in this way. For this, Runner will be assisted in research and development by a2i's i-Lab in ICT Department. The state minister for technology is hopeful that Runner will also export motor vehicles with the policy support of the government. If there is continuity of government, Bangladesh will be established as one of the most promising countries in the world after Japan and South Korea by 2041, added Palak. He further said that he would soon take up the matter with the Minister of Roads and Communications so that the electric vehicles made in the country could be easily registered. We cannot cancel electric vehicles now. It has become a part of our economy. But, in place of importing below standard cars, registering affordable and quality electric vehicles made in the country will increase the revenue of the government and will bring discipline in the employment sector. The minister was speaking to reporters after inspecting the Runner Automobile Factory at Bhaluka in Mymensingh on Thursday. Zunaid Ahmed Palak opined that in the last 13 years, a 'business friendly environment' has been created in the country and now a company like Runner is able to operate with as many as 1998 local engineers and officers excepting two foreigners. Runner founding chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan and telecom and ICT standing committee member MP Munira Sultana and a2i policy adviser Anir Chowdhury were sitting next to him at the time. According to sources, when the Prime Minister declared 2020 as the Year of Engineering, an exchange meeting was initiated with all the automobile associations and industry leaders in the same year under the overall supervision of a2i Innovation Lab under the supervision of BIDA; At that time, a plan was taken to prepare the light engineering sector in Bangladesh more firmly. On April 19 of the following year, State Minister for Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, a2i Policy Advisor, Project Director a2i, In the presence of Head of Technology a2i and other senior ICT officials, planned to build an electric vehicle suitable for the first rural township in Bangladesh. After a long year, Palak went to the factory and saw the first version of the electric car according to that hypothesis and expressed his fascination in front of the journalists. With this fascination, he hopes that in the future, like the United States, school teachers and fishermen in Bangladesh will also travel in private cars made in their own country.
