Investigation committee formed to find the cause of Metrorail closure

Metrorail got stuck at Kazipara station due to technical glitch. After about two hours, the fault was rectified and traffic started. In this incident, an investigation committee has been formed by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which operates the Metrorail.

DMTCL managing director MAN Siddique confirmed the matter and said that an inquiry committee has been constituted regarding the suspension of metro rail movement. The committee has been asked to submit its inquiry report within the next seven days.

He also said that today's incident happened at Mirpur-11 station. Whether it is due to internal or external reasons will be investigated.

Meanwhile, according to the responsible sources of Metrorail, it is heard that overhead catenary system requires 1500 volts to run trains. And the overhead catenary system at each station is different. Sometimes it goes up and down the voltage.

On Sunday afternoon, the power supply on both the lines suddenly became zero in the Pallabi section. After being closed for about two and a half hours, the metro rail movement was normalized around 4:30 pm. Although the power voltage was normal in the section before and after Pallabi during the incident.

An officer in charge of MRT Line-6 ​​told the media that the movement of the metro rail suddenly stopped at 2:25 pm. It was later found that the voltage in the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) at the Pallabi section had gone to zero. Our staff has been trying to resolve the issue for a long time. After 1 hour and 50 minutes, train movement started again at 4:15 pm.
