Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yasir Azman said, “Strengthening policies by the central bank, continuous adjustment in energy prices, reduction in subsidies, increase in supplementary duties and the impact of natural calamities like cyclones and floods have increased the pressure on the macro economy compared to last year. Despite these challenges, we remained focused on the growth strategy and maintained business stability by maintaining consistent growth in topline and EBITDA. Our MyGP app currently has two crore active users, making the app the largest self-service app in the country.”
He further said, “We have adopted various smart and adaptive strategies to increase the use of AI technology. Notable among these is the deployment of an AI-powered dynamic network optimization system, providing seamless connectivity based on real-time movement. At Grameenphone we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our customers and building a sustainable future. We are strategically partnering with organizations that actively support our values and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. As a top telecom operator, we are sensitive to the social and economic responsibilities entrusted to us.
Grameenphone Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Otto Riesback said, “We have completed the first half of the year. I am very happy that after a good first quarter, we have continued our progress in the second quarter of the year in all areas and divisions. Both ARPU and subscriber growth rates were positive in the second quarter as well. Subscription and traffic revenue grew 6.4 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, up from 5.2 percent in the previous quarter. Based on efficiency and automation we have reduced cost pressure and have been able to achieve a strong EBITDA margin of 60.4%. With this, Grameenphone has maintained remarkable financial progress and growth in terms of EBITDA for thirteen consecutive quarters. I am particularly pleased that the Board has recommended an interim dividend of Tk 16 per share for this quarter, on the back of positive growth and a strong balance sheet.”
