A bunch of Bengali technology added feathers to the pride of Ekush
On the occasion of Great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day at the ICT tower of the capital's administrative area, 3 software and 1 Bangla font, 2 Internet service packages of BTCL and E-SIM of Teletalk were inaugurated on Wednesday. These software are - Bengali text to speech - Uchcharon; Bengali Speech to Text- Kotha; Bengali OCR- Barna; Bangla font- Purna. BTCL's Broadband Internet Zipon announced in two affordable packages named 'Sulav' and 'Bhasha'. In this package, the state-owned telecom company will give free router to the customer.
The services were inaugurated by the Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited Managing Director Md. Anwar Hossain and Teletalk Managing Director Md. Habibur Rahman were present.
In the program, 40 ethnic groups of the country expressed their love for the language in their own language. Mamun Or Rashid, Consultant of Bengali Language Development Project in Technology moderated the discussion meeting organized to celebrate the day.
In the speech of the chief guest at the event, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that although we mourn on twenty first of February; It is our pride. On twenty-first, the postal and information technology together created a new foundation for inclusion and coordinated action. The country's researchers and innovators have created these technology services. 7 out of 16 components of 40 software are made by Bangladesh companies. 10 universities of the country have worked with BCC in these projects. All of them have designed and developed the software. These are made in Bangladesh. This is the example of self-reliant Bangladesh.
He also said that the difference between Google G-Board in the new service is its accuracy rate. Uchcharon, Kotha, Barno, Purna, Anubhav, Dhabbani, Guru are all open for all on the website of Bangladesh Computer Council. It's the search engine of the future, a giant step towards self-reliance in social media.

Post and Telecommunication Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman said, the language movement was not only a cultural movement but also, an economic movement. Language is 'social technology'. The political significance of language is also profound. That is why independent Bangladesh came from the language movement. Due respect will be shown to the language martyrs in the coordinated development of this social technology with the love of the country. So, we all will use standard Bengali.
Information and Communication Technology Division Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin said that skills in multiple languages are needed to create a skilled population. Therefore, new software needs to add 'translation' feature to learn regional languages, standard Bengali and foreign languages. However, even if it is not in Google, we have the opportunity to spell correct in the new software.
Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed said, the Bengali nation stood tall with the independence earned in 1947. In 1954, the United Front won an absolute majority. Then came the blow to the Bengali language. Bengali common people collectively faced that injury. The sacrifice of the martyrs of that day cannot be allowed to go in vain. Today's Digital Bangladesh needs to be transformed into Smart Bangladesh.
Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud said that language was the main target of colonization around the world. Decolonization began after World War II. As a result, independent states emerged around the world. Bangabandhu's hunger strike demands research to achieve language independence in our subcontinent.
While speaking as the president, Ranjit Kumar said, BCC is also working on the languages of 40 ethnic groups living in Bangladesh. Technology should be used so that Bengali language is not lost to the invasion of other languages.
