5G service in December along with Spectrum auction

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has said that 5G service will be launched in the country through Teletalk in December this year by creating a conducive environment for the fifth generation Internet or 5G. The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a webinar titled '5G Ecosystem in Bangladesh and Upcoming Technologies' organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh-TRNB on Saturday. The Minister said, "We will definitely make arrangements so that we can move forward by creating a conducive environment." We will start the rollout of our 5G by 2021 through Teletalk. That means It will be a symbolic inauguration. Teletalk will expand in the 2022. We have decided to auction 5G's spectrum within this year. And if we do that too, we will see other operators come to the 5G field in the year 2022.' 'Bangladesh will be known as Digital Bangladesh in 2021. This December we have many important days. December 12 is our Digital Bangladesh Day; December 16 is our Victory Day. We will start the rollout of this 5G on the occasion of such a great day', said the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder and BTRC Commissioner and Chairman of the 5G Policy Formulation and Implementation Committee AKM Shahiduzzaman briefed about the various steps taken by the government in launching the 5G policy and spectrum auction. The BTRC chairman said the government was working on a broadband policy. The first draft of the broadband policy will be drafted by December this year and the final policy will be finalized by March or April, 2022. The chairman of the 5G policy formulation and implementation committee said the steps required for the 5G spectrum auction have already been completed. As a result, there is no restriction in the auction of 5G spectrum. He added that BTRC is also working to bring the annual license fees of mobile operators to a tolerable level. Companies like Ericsson and Huawei are working on 5G infrastructure issues in different countries. Taking part in the program, the officials of the organizations highlighted the various steps required for the 5G infrastructure in the country. Abdus Salam, Ericsson's country manager, said transport and core network readiness were needed for the 5G infrastructure. He called upon the government to make preparations for the launch of 5G. Huawei's Chief Operating Officer Taoguanzio in his speech hoped for everyone's cooperation in launching 5G. Teletalk Managing Director (MD) Sahab Uddin, Banglalink CEO and AMTOB Chairman Eric Aas, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman and Robi Acting CEO Riaz Rashid also spoke on the event. TRNB General Secretary Sameer Kumar Dey presented the keynote address at the event conducted by TRNB President Rashed Mehdi.
