Made in Bangladesh: Machinery, Motors, and Manufacturing Momentum

Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries, remarked that Bangladesh seeks to establish the “Made in Bangladesh” brand as a global symbol of excellence, highlighting the potential and capacity of the country’s automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors. He emphasized, “These sectors are our priority areas; they are playing a crucial role in export diversification, employment generation, and the advancement of the national economy.”

He made these comments on 20 September, Saturday, at the opening ceremony of the two-day fair titled “Automobiles and Agro-Machinery Fair 2025 – Road to Made in Bangladesh” held in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The inaugural day also featured a seminar on “Development of Automobiles and Agro-Machineries Sector and Strengthening of Backward Linkages: Challenges, Opportunities, and Way Forward.”

The Industry Adviser noted that the fair would build investor confidence and unlock new business opportunities. “The goal of the Bangladesh government is to establish the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand as a global hallmark. For this, we must foster production-based industries, ensure technology transfer, encourage research and innovation, and develop skilled human resources,” he said.

Speaking as a special guest, Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman stated that the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors are contributing significantly to the country’s development. He added that the Ministry of Industries is working to build an industry-rich nation equipped with skilled manpower.

The event was presided over by Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez, President of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI). Also present were Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation, Dr. M. Abu Yusuf, agri-tech entrepreneurs Alimuzzaman Chowdhury and Abdur Razzak.

In the keynote paper, Dr. M. Masrur Riaz presented data and insights on the current state, growth, and future prospects of the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors.

The Industry Adviser formally inaugurated the fair, visited the participating stalls, and interacted with entrepreneurs. The opening ceremony took place on the top floor of the Edison Prime Building at 261C, near Nabisco Bus Stand, Tejgaon.

The fair showcases cutting-edge vehicles, agricultural machinery, and light engineering products across 38 stalls, with opportunities for both display and sales. On the second day, 21 September, in-depth discussions will be held on “Global Best Practices of Automobiles and Agro-Machinery Industries.”
