Ford Foresees Future with $30K Electric Pickup by 2027

Ford has announced plans to launch a mid-sized electric pickup priced around $30,000 by 2027, marking the first vehicle built on its new “Universal EV Platform.” The model, designed in the style of the popular Maverick, will feature a prismatic LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery. Reported by Engadget.
Ford is investing $5 billion in the project, including $2 billion for expanding its Louisville, Kentucky factory, which is expected to create approximately 4,000 direct jobs. The new platform will enable the production of multiple models—vans, cars, and pickups—more quickly and cost-effectively.
According to Ford, “The parts count will reduce by 20%, assembly time will drop by 15%, and five-year ownership costs will be lower than those of a used Tesla Model Y.” The pickup will offer more interior space than the Toyota RAV4 and accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 4.5 seconds. Further details and the vehicle’s name will be announced later.
