Establishing Tech-Based Labs and Utilizing Digital Media for Infertility Diagnosis and Awareness Recommended

The infertility rate in Bangladesh currently exceeds 20% and continues to rise. Infertility and gynecological issues have become significant problems for many couples of the current generation, impacting not only marital relationships but also physical, mental, and social well-being. Infertility can stem from various factors, with issues potentially arising in either spouse or both. However, in Bangladesh, women often face undue blame and stigmatization for infertility, despite research showing that in 40% of cases, the issue lies with women, in another 40% with men, and in the remaining 20% with both partners.

Experts in the field have emphasized the need to establish modern technology-based diagnostic labs in the country to address this issue. They have also highlighted the importance of leveraging online platforms to create public awareness. These insights were shared during a social awareness workshop on infertility and its remedies, held on Wednesday, December 25, at the TMSS Masuda Maternity Hospital auditorium in Kazipara, Dhaka.

The workshop was jointly organized by Medihelp Fertility Center and TMSS Masuda Maternity Hospital. It was presided over by Dr. Hasna Hossain Akhi, Bangladesh’s leading fertility and IVF specialist. The event's chief guest was renowned social worker Mohammad Mohiuddin Ahmed, while other distinguished attendees included Dr. Fatema Khatun Rimi, Director of TMSS Masuda Maternity Hospital, and Dr. Shabana Khanum, Senior Consultant at Yellow Fertility Center in India. The program was moderated by infertility consultant Md. Abdullah Ahmed.

The workshop focused on providing accurate information about infertility and raising awareness about treatment options. At the conclusion of the event, certificates were distributed to the participants.
