Theft and snatching of digital devices has increased in Dhaka in recent times. In particular, the snatchers snatched the mobile phones and ran away. And most of them are drug addicts. As well as changing the IME number of stolen mobiles it is quite a cycle in sales. Ordinary buyers are getting stuck in legal complications by buying these stolen mobiles through them. The victims are being harassed.
In such a situation, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Joint-Commissioner (Admin and DB-South) Mahbub Alam advised not to buy these stolen mobile phones.
Speaking at a press conference at the DMP's media center on Saturday (April 9), the police official said, "Anyone visiting the Eastern Plaza, Motaleb Plaza, Gulistan area of Hatirpul can change their mobile IME number." We have taken action and special measures against them at different times.
Asked if he had received any specific information about a distribution company involved in selling stolen and snatched mobiles online, the joint commissioner of DB South said, "Anyone can sell any mobile online. For example, if someone advertises on sale.com, then there will be buyers for sale.

However, Mahbub Alam said that the stolen and snatched iPhones are going out of the country. Police are reluctant to sue if someone is snatched on the street, he told reporters. They are not clear whether it was stolen or lost. When it comes to the police, you can't even present properly. Then naturally the police took GD without taking the case of theft. In some cases, there is a tendency for the case not to be recorded after the snatching takes place. Especially in the case of mobile. However, if the investigation later finds out that the mobile phone was snatched, then a case is filed.
While asked how many mobile phones have been recovered so far, he said, "We are conducting regular raids and recovering mobile phones. Police are also rescuing. The number cannot be stated. The involvement of the juvenile gang members listed with these incidents is being investigated.
