BASIS president calls on Japanese businessmen to invest in Bangladesh
Referring to the rapid growth of Bangladesh's information technology sector, President of Bangladesh Association of Software Information Services (BASIS) Russell T. Ahmed urged Japanese IT businessmen to invest in Bangladesh.
He made the call in a seminar titled 'Digital Bangladesh: Your IT Destination' at the Japan IT Week 2023 held at the Tokyo Big Site in Japan on Wednesday.
BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed said, “Bangladesh is the next destination for IT investors. Bangladeshi IT companies are capable of providing products and services according to any international demand. Bangladesh's success in the international software and app market is also enviable. Bangladesh is walking on the right way to implement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by 2041 and BASIS is working as a partner of the government. One of the main goals of the BASIS is to create up-to-date skilled human resources in implementing 'Smart Bangladesh'.
He further said, “BASIS has been working for several years to explore Japan's IT market and facilitate Japanese investment in Bangladesh in building a Smart Bangladesh and real development of the ICT sector. Bangladesh's fast-moving IT or ITES sector is poised to open up new opportunities for Japanese ICT entrepreneurs and investors. Japan and Bangladesh have a deep sense of brotherhood. In the field of IT sector, Bangladesh has skilled manpower and Japan has advanced information technology. In this case, I hope that both countries will benefit if Bangladesh and Japan work together to make maximum use of the skills of both countries."
At the seminar, BASIS Director AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU presented the slide presentation. He said, “Bangladeshi IT companies have received good response by participating in Japan IT week in the last few years. The BASIS Japan Desk is always ready for all possible cooperation to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between the two countries.”
Dr. Ariful Haque, Minister (Commerce), Embassy of Bangladesh, Tokyo also presented a slide presentation. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan gave a welcome speech at the seminar.
However, a delegation of 27 members from 15 BASIS IT companies has participated in the Japan IT Week, on April 5-7, 2023, which is known as the meeting place for IT professionals in Asia. The delegation is led by BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed.
At the Japan IT Week, 11 member company of BASIS will showcase their services at the Bangladesh Pavilion. The companies are: LeadSoft Bangladesh Limited, Nascenia, Brain Station 23, Kawaii Advanced Technology & Solution Limited, BJIT Limited, DreamOnline Limited, Attrabit ICT Solution, Edusoft Consultants Ltd, E-Tracker Solution, Deshlink Limited and XCEED Bangladesh Limited.
Four BASIS member technology companies are participating as visitors. The companies are: Link Vision Software Solution, Arclite Systems Ltd, Triangle Services Limited and Pollux Technology Solutions.
During the fair, BASIS members will participate in various conferences, seminars, workshops and B2B meetings to expand business with different countries. They will highlight the capabilities of the IT sector in Bangladesh and also they will inform about the services of BASIS members’ companies. Besides, participation of BASIS members in Japan IT Week, will play an important role in creating a bondage between foreign investors and IT companies of Bangladesh. However, Japan, a formidable leader in the field of science and technology organizes a mega convention every year called the Japan IT Week as it is gradually opening up its border to promote trade and innovation within the tech field. A nation with an ever present need for skilled workforce to continue the proliferation of its techno enterprise, Japan IT Week is a prime venue where global tech brands, business leaders, job seekers and innovators flock to with the aim to establish a mutual trade relation.
